How to prepare for your window or door installation

A little preparation makes installation day quicker and tidier for everyone. None of it is difficult, and we will talk you through anything specific to your home beforehand. Here is what helps.

Clear the way to each window and door

Move furniture, blinds, curtains and anything on the sills away from the openings we are working on. A clear gap of a metre or so gives us room to remove the old units and fit the new ones safely.

If a window is behind a bed, wardrobe or kitchen units, let us know in advance so we can plan around it together.

Floors, pets and parking

We lay down protection and work as cleanly as we can, but it is worth lifting rugs and moving anything fragile from the immediate area. Keeping pets in another room keeps them calm and safe while doors are open.

If you can, leave space for a van near the house. On installation day there will be tools and materials going in and out, so easy access saves time.

What happens on the day

We protect the area, carefully remove the old window or door, then fit the new unit square and level, fix it properly and seal around it inside and out. We check it opens, closes and locks smoothly before moving on.

Most domestic jobs are completed within a few days depending on the number of units and access. We will give you a clear timeline before we start.

After we finish

We tidy as we go and take the old units and packaging away. We will show you how everything operates and answer any questions, and we stay on hand afterwards if anything needs a small adjustment as the house settles.
